On a luminous pure white background wave follow black and gray, in a display of beauty difficult to overcome.

Onyx Ivory is pure marble onyx, also known as calcareous onyx,

with a quality that sets it apart from other stone materials: it is translucent.

Light subtly traverses this material and generates effects that no other stone can match.

This beautiful marble stands out as never before when combined with spaces where the balance reigns, decorated with neutral colors and with a prominence of gold and white.

Onyx Marble Characteristics

The materials commercially known as onyxes are scientifically alabaster (or calcareous alabaster) formed by depositions of calcium carbonate from water rich in bicarbonate, generally in cavities in the limestone massifs.

The technical and aesthetic characteristics of the onyx vary depending on the direction of the cut;

if the cut is parallel to the level of the stratification (cross-section), a circular design is seen on the plate;

if the cut is perpendicular (following the direction of the grain),

the sedimentary stratification stands out. At the moment the cross section prevails because with this cut the characteristic of translucency is highlighted.

Characteristic of the onyxes is the presence of bands, due to the fact that carbonate levels can have different colors,

depending on the concentration of the minerals and the impurities they contain.

onyx Marble

The most common mineral of the “marble onyx” is calcite, followed by aragonite;

Other frequently associated minerals are clay and quartz. The color is white or varied (beige, orange, brown, pink, red,

green, blue, yellow) because of the impurities of the different chemical composition.

The color of the onyx is rarely uniform so that in the same deposit alternating clear materials with dark and even brown or opaque white (variety less appreciated). Brown veins or reddish brown spots are very frequent,

due to the presence of iron oxide.
